Engineering Challenges, Study Skills and Enrolling for 2027
Term 3 has begun with energy and purpose at Central West Leadership Academy.
Since returning to campus, our students have settled quickly back into the rhythm of learning, and July has already brought a number of opportunities for growth, connection and preparation for the months ahead.
A Strong Start to Term 3
Term 3 began with students and staff returning to campus, ready for the term ahead. It was pleasing to see our community come back together with enthusiasm, and to welcome every student through our doors on that first day. There is a great deal to look forward to this term, including new learning, new opportunities and another chance for our students to grow as a community.
Engineering Thinking in Action
Our Year 7 to 10 students took part in an Engineers Without Borders challenge this term, working through real world design problems using engineering thinking, teamwork and creative problem solving. Engineers Without Borders Australia partners with communities to develop practical, sustainable solutions to genuine challenges, and brings that same spirit of hands on, globally connected learning into the classroom.
Programs such as this reflect exactly the kind of learning CWLA is built around: practical, collaborative and connected to the wider world. I congratulate our students on the thinking and teamwork they brought to the day.
Preparing for What Lies Ahead
Students across our senior years took part in the Elevate Program this term. Years 9, 10 and 11 participated in Study Sensei, building the study skills and habits that lead to genuine academic progress, while our Year 12 students took part in Finishing Line, a program designed to support and motivate them as they approach the final stretch of their schooling.
Programs like these matter. They give students practical tools to apply not only this term, but well beyond it. I was pleased to see our students engage with the day and take on board what was offered to them.
Student Initiative on Display
Parent Teacher Interviews were held on the 21st and 22nd of July, giving families and teachers the opportunity to connect, reflect on progress and plan the road ahead together. These conversations remain one of the most valuable parts of the school year, and I thank all families who took the time to attend.
Student Initiative on Display
One of the highlights of July was our student-led Clothing Swap Fete, held as part of The Academy's Passion Project program. Students planned, prepared and hosted this event themselves, welcoming the community through our gates and putting into practice many of the qualities we work hard to develop: initiative, creativity, collaboration and care for the world around them.
Events such as this are a genuine expression of what student-led learning can look like. I congratulate all students involved in bringing this project to life.
Kindergarten 2027 Enrolment Interviews
Enrolments for Kindergarten 2027 remain open. CWLA offers a warm, nurturing environment where every child begins their learning journey with confidence and curiosity, supported by dedicated teachers who know each child's individual learning needs.
If your little one will be starting school in 2027, now is a great time to secure their place.
Looking Ahead
July has set a strong tone for the term ahead. From engineering challenges to study skills programs, from parent teacher conversations to planning for the future, our students and families have shown the commitment and curiosity that continue to define our community.
