A Message From The Principal

Dear families and carers,

Welcome everyone to the 2026 school year.

The opportunity to join the Central West Leadership Academy and broader Dubbo community is certainly an exciting new chapter for me professionally and personally. Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already received from those I’ve met so far. I’m looking forward to meeting as many people as possible over the coming weeks and months, learning more about what’s important in a school to you and how I and all the amazing staff at The Academy can help make these valuable years educationally enriching and rewarding for all.

Time certainly has flown by over summer, especially with the amazing weather providing opportunity for all manner of adventures and relaxation. Here we are though, hopefully well rested and ready for the 2026 school year having enjoyed time with family and friends over the holiday season, and in my case, relocating and settling into life in Dubbo. I’ll let you in on a secret. There is usually a bit of panic for teachers as the ‘return to school’ advertisements for shoes and stationery start hitting the media very early in January, but I suspect that may be the case for some students as well. I also saw Hot Cross Buns already in the supermarket in the New Year, so maybe the Easter break is not far away either. Why are folks in such a rush?

Regardless, the pace of days, weeks, and terms will very soon speed up significantly for students and it is important all are well prepared and organised from the outset. Not only with the equipment and resources for learning, but also the attitudes and approaches to learning to get the most out of every lesson and opportunity. The four values of our school; Innovation, Respect, Community and Learning are an excellent reminder and guide to the manner in which all at Central West Leadership Academy should endeavour to approach each day.

So let’s embrace the 2026 school year by living out our values with ‘dedication to developing our region’s high potential students of today into the principled leaders and innovators of tomorrow and empowering them to make a difference to their community and the world’.

Kind regards,

Scott Baker
Principal
