As we move through the opening weeks of the school year, it has been encouraging to see the Academy settle quickly into a strong rhythm of learning, connection, and community. From welcoming students back on campus to coming together as families, the year has begun with a genuine sense of optimism and shared purpose.
Highlights From Our First Month Back
A Warm Welcome Back
Our first day back was a wonderful reminder of what makes The Academy special. Seeing students reconnect with friends, settle into classrooms, and engage positively with their teachers set a strong tone for the year ahead. These early days play an important role in establishing routines, expectations, and a shared commitment to learning, and our students have made an excellent start.
Connecting as a Community
It was lovely to see families come together for the P&C Meet and Greet BBQ. Opportunities like these are vital in building relationships across our community, particularly for families who are new to the school. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a welcoming and relaxed afternoon.
A Love of Reading
Students have already begun engaging with the Premier’s Reading Challenge, reinforcing the importance of reading as a foundation for learning across all areas. Encouraging curiosity, imagination, and strong reading habits supports students well beyond the classroom, and it has been wonderful to see this enthusiasm reflected across the school.
Looking Ahead to NAPLAN
NAPLAN will begin on March 11 for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. At The Academy, we view NAPLAN as one of many tools that help us understand student learning and growth over time. Our focus remains on preparation, confidence, and ensuring students feel supported to approach the assessment with a balanced and positive mindset. Further information will be shared with families as we move closer to the testing window.
