Success at State Da Vinci Decathlon: 8th in the state!

The Central West Leadership Academy has taken out a string of top placings in the State da Vinci Decathlon held at Knox Grammar School in Sydney on May 28 and May 30 .

The Year 6 team placed 7th in Ideation out of 80 teams. The Year 7 students from the Academy have brought home amazing placings including 2nd in Ideation, 2nd in General Knowledge, 6th in Engineering, 8th in Code Breaking, and they placed 8th overall in the state.

The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and general knowledge.

Ms Mandi Randell, Principal of the Academy said, “This truly shows the capacity of regional kids. When the focus is on 21st Century Skills and maximising individual’s potential, the sky is the limit.”

Ms Randell further added, “ The competition was fierce and our team utterly excelled on the state level. I couldn’t be more proud of our students and it is a great result for not only our school but for Dubbo and the Central West.”

Applications for enrolment are now open for 2020 for year 3-8.
