15-year-old finishes Year 12 IB Diploma at The Academy

Our mission at Central West Leadership Academy is to open a world of possibility for our students. We provide an agile, nurturing environment that empowers gifted students to develop their personal best and embrace the endless opportunities before them.

One such child is Finn Randell, a remarkable student who will graduate from Year 12 and completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the young age of 15. Finn's journey at CWLA is a testament to our dedication to promoting academic excellence and preparing students for the complexities of our world.

The Academy, through its personal learning plans and differentiation, was able to accelerate Finn by two years and provide him with a rigorous course of study to fit his individual needs. Finn has not only excelled in school, but also came in fourth place in the world for Community Problem Solving last year at the Future Problem Solving International Finals in the US with his project “Capturing our Histories: Podcasting with Local Elders.”

At The Academy, we are redefining education for high achievers in the region with our IB program. This world-renowned program is an alternative to the HSC for Year 11 and 12 students, specifically designed to prepare students for university.

New research indicates that Australian students who study the IB in Year 12 have higher university entry rates and course completion than their peers, regardless of their socio-economic background. This rigorous program equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in higher education and beyond.

Here at The Academy, we are a true home for high achievers, cultivating an environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential. Finn Randell is just one example of the many success stories at CWLA. Our students are consistently prepared to excel both academically and personally, so they can realise their dreams and make a difference in the world.
