Central West Leadership Academy students in Stage 4 recently entered the Australian National Videos for Change competition. The Academy team consisting of Joey Besser, Spencer Bloomfield and Finn Randell have produced a video that qualified for the National Finals. There is a People’s Choice Award section and voting is open now. You can support our local Team by voting for the film “Doors” at: http://bit.ly/DoorsVideosForChange

Principal Mandi Randell said, “This is the type of real world learning we foster at the Academy. Students think both critically and creatively to try to make a change in their worlds. I could not be more proud of Joey, Spencer and Finn. Australia has a deep rich history in filmmaking and I think we have a crop of the next generation young filmmakers in our midst.”

Videos for Change is a competition where students make one-minute videos on social issues that they care about. It helps them build social advocacy skills and gives them a global platform to amplify their message.

According to the Video’s for Change Website: “This year’s Australian National Videos for Change competition, asked the question, “What does ‘community’ mean in a crisis?”

We’re looking for one-minute videos that express the views and experiences of Australian teenagers during these challenging times.

It’s an opportunity for young people to have a voice and creatively address the different ways that ‘community’ can affect positive change.”
