Year 7 2019 Parent Information Sessions
The Central West Leadership Academy, Dubbo's new, independent school is continuing its fresh approach to education by commencing its first Year 7 Cohort in 2019. There are 15 additional seats available in the new Year 7 class for a total of 20 students.
Information sessions for interested parents will be held on in the Maths classroom at the Western Plain Cultural Centre’s Community Arts building on the following dates:
- Wednesday September 5, 6.00pm
- Wednesday September 26, 6.00pm
The Academy is built upon the foundation of 21st Century Schooling, providing a future-oriented curriculum that focuses on problem solving, critical thinking and global-mindedness, with the aim of imbuing students with the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly-changing, technical world. All students learn coding, Mandarin, design thinking and philosophy among other important critical thinking skills.
The school has a focus on talented students - artistically, academically, through community leadership or sport - including those who may not be flourishing in their current educational environment.
The Academy is Accredited by the NSW Education Minister and New South Wales Education Standards Authority. The Academy’s academic offerings will lead to a ROSA.
“This school, dedicated to 21st Century Learning, will bring new opportunities and choice to students and families in Dubbo,” says Mandi Randell, Principal of The Academy.
Beyond 2019, the Academy will grow to include Years 8-12 and will offer the International Baccalaureate, a highly sought-after HSC-alternative that specialises in preparing students for a more global environment. The IB is not offered anywhere else in the Central West and will be a very important addition to Dubbo’s educational landscape.
The school is now accepting enrolments for Years 3-7 in 2019 - all information can be found on the enrolments page of the Academy website.
